Cohost Writers' Salon Zine

Once, there was a website called Cohost. It was a long form blogging website with its own set of flaws and foibles, but it managed to cultivate a community of real creativity and possibility. Some people ran accounts specifically to give out single-sentence writing prompts - mech pilots, magical girls, adventurers, criminals, a bounty of inspiration free to a good home. Those prompts inspired writers, who wrote everything from paragraph-sized snippets to whole novellas. Then those writers found each other, encouraged each other, and grew to create even more stories.

This is just a small distillation of what made our community so good - a handful of pieces, taken from the thousands of wonderful, well-written, heartfelt stories we made together. From doomed lesbian mech pilots to haughty elven princesses, from cloak-and-dagger dead drops to cursed life-drinking swords, these stories represent the essence of what the community had to offer. The stories here may make you laugh. They might well make you cry. They might just make you smile. But from us to you, we simply hope that you enjoy them.

The printable version is intended to be printed out on standard printer paper, folded in half, and then stapled in the middle. It should take 23 pieces of standard printer paper, front and back.
